It may still be hot now in August, but fall is just around the corner and a great time for doing some fall planting. Plants like cool season vegetables (broccoli, carrots, cabbage, kale, lettuces and spinach to name a few), flowers that bloom in spring, perennials and shrubs can all be planted when the temps drop slightly and working outside in the garden isn’t as hard on you or the plants. The ground is still warm, however, and roots can start to grow until the ground freezes. Then, they are ready to take off next spring!
